A Love Letter To California

I was lucky enough to grow up in California - on the beach no less, so maybe I'll always see it a little differently. I've lived all over the country, but each time I return, I'm reminded just how extraordinary its natural beauty truly is.

To me, California isn't just sunshine and palm trees. It's the cool marine layer that lingers well into the morning. The scent of salt in the fresh air. Long walks along the coastline when the beaches are nearly empty, no matter the season. Looking up at impossibly tall palms that have stood here for generations.

There are seasons of life that take us elsewhere, but there's something about coming home to the Pacific that never feels ordinary.

The California I love isn't loud. It's understated. Soft skies. Weathered cliffs. Quiet beaches. The kind of beauty that never needs to announce itself.

No matter where life takes me, I think a part of my heart will always belong somewhere along this coast...

I can sense that mood in your words, that feeling of home. I’m visited many times and “the cool marine layer that lingers into the morning” is one of my favorite feel good moments about California. Reminds me that I need to visit again. 💛 Kim
