Fall Hosting

Maison D fall hosting

As the days grow shorter and the evenings begin to cool, I find myself wanting a little more warmth around the table.

This fall I’m inspired by the rich colors and textures of Morocco - aged brass, warm wood, terracotta, deep chocolate brown and jewel-toned glass. Pieces that feel collected rather than seasonal, and that will remain beautiful on the table long after fall has passed.

A traditional brass salt mill is beautiful enough to leave out between dinners, while simple wood serving spoons bring warmth to bowls and platters. I love the unexpected color of Moroccan tea glasses -especially in burnt orange tones mixed with brass.

For dinner there’s something wonderful about bringing a tagine directly from the kitchen to the table and letting everyone serve themselves. Food feels somehow more inviting when it arrives still warm in the vessel it was cooked in.

I love small brass candlesticks across the table with chocolate brown tapers for a warm, low glow. And instead of traditional fall decorations, a handful of antiqued brass figs feels sculptural, subtle and just a little unexpected.

Nothing needs to match perfectly. In fact, it’s better when it doesn’t.

Add something delicious to eat, candlelight, a bottle of wine, a good playlist, and people you love.

Fall hosting doesn’t need much more than that.
